Leon MacDonald & Andrew Gluyas

From humble beginnings, with lowly bred horses, Leon has built up an imposing record that saw him inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2014.

Leon took out his trainer’s license in 1975 giving him over 45 years of experience. The stable has always been high on the list of leading trainers in South Australia, winning South Australian Metropolitan Trainers Premiership on multiple occasions most recently in the 2016/17 season.

In 2009 he entered into a partnership with his son-in-law, Andrew Gluyas, with whom he now trains at the French Cotton Lodge Stables named after his first Group 1 winner.
